Importance of the place
This temple is called 'Stone Ramayana'. It is one of the few temples where almost the entire Ramayana is carved on the temple walls in sequence which can be readable as a comic book but where each page is carved in stone, the stories which can be preserved forever through art.

Importance of the place
This temple has beautiful paintings and sculptures that tell the Ramayana from beginning to end. The main deity shows Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, Shatrughna and Hanuman all together in one sanctum. It is one of the few temples where we can see Rama's whole family together and gives a moral message saying that family love and unity are very important.

- Lepakshi is traditionally associated with Jatayu. It is believed that Rama said 'Le Pakshi' (raise, O bird) to the wounded Jatayu here, giving the place its name
Importance of the place
According to tradition, this is where the brave eagle Jatayu fell after fighting with Ravana. When Rama reached him, he lovingly said 'Le Pakshi' (Rise O bird!) This is believed to be how the place got the name Lepakshi. This temple is also famous for the hanging pillar, giant Nandi statue and beautiful Ramayana paintings. It gives the message: Even if you cannot win, trying to protect others makes you a hero.

Importance of the place
The temple walls are carved with thousands of detailed carvings where many of the sculptures tell the story of Rama, Hanuman, Ravana and the monkey army. Every carving was made by hand hundreds of years ago. Some carvings are so detailed that even the ornaments on the characters can be seen. It gives the message: Great things are created with patience and dedication.

Importance of the place
This UNESCO World Heritage temple has many Ramayana sculptures carved into its walls. The carvings show Rama breaking Shiva's bow, battle scenes and Hanuman's adventures. These carvings have survived for over 1,200 years. It gives the message: Good stories inspire people for generations.
