🎲 About Chowka Bara

Chowka Bara (also known as Ashta Chamma in some regions) is a traditional Indian board game that combines strategy, skill, and chance. Popular across South India—especially in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu—it is a favorite among both children and adults.

The game is played on a grid-based board with cowrie shells (kavade) used as dice, and each player navigates their pawns to the center of the board using calculated moves. The number of shells that land facing up determines the move count, making each turn exciting and unpredictable.

Chowka Bara promotes:

✔️ Strategic thinking and planning

✔️ Patience and concentration

✔️ Social interaction and bonding

✔️ Cultural learning and tradition sharing

Typically played with 2 to 4 players, it is not just a game but a celebration of Indian heritage, often enjoyed during festivals, family gatherings, and casual evenings.

📌 Fun Fact:

Each region adds its own twist to the game, including local chants, house rules, and customized game boards. These variations make Chowka Bara a rich and diverse cultural experience.
